Hi! I'm so glad you're here! Welcome to the first blog post! I'll admit the idea of keeping a blog has felt quite daunting. What do I write about?! I'm sure you can relate, it's weird talking about yourself, but things are so crazy in the world right now I figured screw it now is as good a time as any!
This past weekend was my first time vending at a live event after a 10 year hiatus and it was such a wild experience. So how did I get here you may ask? Well I have been slowly working on building Moonstruck Botanica since 2020 and during this time I've also had a 9-5 job. It's been my dream to eventually wane myself off this 9-5 and make a living off of my art, but I'm grateful to have the 9-5 nonetheless. Anywho... it has become apparent to me that I am currently training my Ai replacement! 😹 I did not have living in a live action Black Mirror episode on my 2026 Bingo card but here we are.
Anyway, this drove me to panic apply to a bunch of cons, festivals, and other events to vend at. I was pleasantly surprised to find I got accepted to a bunch, the first of which was Comic-Con Oakland. Which of course I was 100% convinced I would not be accepted to... severely underestimated how close the event was and spent the following 2 weeks with a one woman factory line in my office, extremely caffeinated, and excessively sleep deprived. I pulled it off though! The entire display was designed using re-purposed and up cycled materials to display my goods.
And how was the con? Spectacular! What a wonderful group of humans, epic cosplay and deliciously nerdy. I will be going back next year!
